The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 directed the Small Business Administration (SBA) to create a Governmentwide certification program for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. Effective January 1, 2023, SBA assumed responsibility for certifying Veteran-Owned small firms. If you have questions, please contact SBA at vetcert@sba.gov. By special request, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (VA OSDBU) will conduct a small business outreach event for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) in the Newton County GA area. VA OSDBU directorates co-hosting this event with the Veteran Services Office of Newton County GA are the Direct Access Program (DAP) and Strategic Outreach and Communication (SOC).  Attendees will receive the following information from the DAP and SOC staff:

  • An explanation of the DAP and how the directorate supports VOSBs
  • An overview of the activities that occur at a DAP event
  • The business development services VOSBs can access
  • An explanation of how the small business support services help entrepreneurs
