I was a Veteran Affairs Government Contracting Officer for 10 years. In my new role as the Small Business Specialist, I develop and encourage opportunities for small business concerns within the various socioeconomic programs by providing information regarding means for doing business with the Federal Government. I have Established and maintained a robust Small Business Outreach program that allows for coordination and participation in Government-Industry conferences, regional, state, and local small business events, and inter-agency small business activities. Meets with small business contractors virtually and by phone daily. I provide technical expertise to contracting Officers, locally, regionally, and nationally, procuring a wide variety of supplies, equipment and services, medical services, equipment repair and maintenance, and facility repair/maintenance and construction, which may involve extensive evaluation of and negotiations with small business concerns. I serve as suppliers' and vendors' primary point of contact for the Network Contracting Office's Business opportunities. Serves as the Network Contracting Office (NCO) technical advisor for assisting small business concerns in obtaining payments under their contracts, late payments, interest penalties, or information on contractual payment provisions; as well as advising on key Department established acquisition directives. I support NCO 9 Major VA Medical Centers throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. I received a master’s degree of Arts in Organizational Management in 2005 from Tusculum College, in Greenville, Tennessee. I joined the active-duty Air Force at the age of 19 and served for 9.5 years was honorably discharged. In 1992 we then relocated to Knoxville TN where I served 18 years in the Tennessee Air National Guard (TANG) in a civil service role, retired from the TANG, December 31, 2011. I started with the Veteran Affairs in Milwaukee Wisconsin, NCO 12 in November 2010, and relocated back to Tennessee in 2018, going to work for NCO 9. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 40 years and have two children (adults) and four grandchildren. I love to fish and travel when time permits. I also enjoy watching college sports."}]}
